Abrasive Wheels

½ Day Course can be conducted Classroom Based or online

The Abrasive Wheels training is designed to support the safety of individuals working with rotary grinding and cutting equipment.  The standard for this training was developed in collaboration with employers and stakeholders from across the energy and utility sector.

Key Aspects of Training

• Safety & Compliance: Ensures compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)

Core Topics Covered

• Selection & Storage: Choosing the right disc, correct storage, and handling.
• Inspection & Testing: Identifying faults and damage.
• Mounting: Safely fitting wheels to bench or portable machines.
• Hazard Awareness: Dust, noise, vibration, and wheel breakage management.

Target Audience

Anyone using, supervising, or managing staff who use angle grinders, bench grinders, or disc cutters.
